This service aims to be as inclusive as possible. The Volunteer Driver Program must therefore be accessible to all the Greater Miramichi Region Population, especially those with limited access or no means of transportation. It is critical that the model meets the needs of both rural and urban residents, from scheduled appointments (doctor, mental health-related and wellness), to basic everyday needs (pharmacy, groceries, financial institution, food banks, work, school, etc.).
Although the service is offered to all Greater Miramichi residents, the Volunteer Driver Program will mostly be of interest to the following clientele:
Individuals with low incomes
Lone-parent families
Individuals with reduced mobility or disabilities
Individuals who do not have a driver’s license, do not have access to a vehicle or are incapable of driving
Individuals or families who does not have access to an affordable transit system.
